how the hell do I "become" creative?
...creativity on tap
"How do you focus on a single idea while avoiding overwhelm, perfectionism, and prevent unfinished projects to erode confidence?"
A question surfaced during a call today.
I don't know about you.
But here in my corner of the internet.
People don't struggle with a lack of ideas...
No.
Quite the opposite.
It's a different struggle altogether.
An endless stream of ideas...
A neurodivergent mind jumping from one idea to another with excitement.
The creative execution gap
With every superpower.
There's kryptonite.
The shadow side of multidimensional curiosity...
Is a serious lack of execution.
Throttled by overwhelm.
Perfectionism.
And an embarrassing list of unfinished projects.
(let me show you my internet domain purchase history)
It gets worse.
Cuz all of this hyper-excitement and knowledge hoarding...
Comes at a cost.
Eroding your confidence.
Delaying your impact.
The actual struggle is ignoring new concepts and ideas
Concentrating on a handful worth pursuing
I'll unpack this in a sec.
But first:
Meet the invisible enemy…
What if your worst enemy isn’t time or talent
But the voice in your head?
You know the voice.
The annoying little bastard riddled with angst.
(I've named mine,... meet Woody Allen)
Woody is hyper-intellectual.
Cerebral.
Riddled with self-doubt, fear, and anxiety.
He likes to procrastinate and sabotage progress.
But instead of blaming everything on Woody...
I acknowledge his superior intellect.
And troubleshooting abilities.
Thank him for his service.
And let him know: buddy, I'll take it over from here.
(he can't be trusted to make decisions of such importance)
See, cuz fear...
It paralyzes action.
Without courage, no other virtue can shine through.
Fear isn’t a stop sign...
It's a GPS pointing to your most important work
The bigger the magnitude of fear.
The more important the task at hand.
Avoiding fear means avoiding growth.
With fear out of the way...
Back to the original struggle:
Ignoring new concepts and ideas
Concentrating on a handful worth pursuing
Actual problem solving
If ideas come easy.
It's usually a result of chasing the dopamine high.
Feeding your insatiable curiosity.
But until you apply your learning to practical problems.
It's pure entertainment.
(mental masturbation)
That's what makes ideas valuable.
Application.
Practicality.
Need is the mother of all invention
So long as that need is nonexistent, hypothetical, and abstract.
You're not employing your brain to problem-solve.
Ok!
Nuff with the theory.
How do I do this?
Tough question.
Cuz problem-solving is my default.
I can't upload my entire experience and personality to an AI agent (yet)
for you to download.
Besides,
We all have different learning styles.
But you can sure as hell use AI.
To help you develop an individualized learning path.
With the sole focused direction of finishing your creative project.
In fact, AI whipped up an AInstein Learning companion.
You can swipe it and make it work to harness your creative focus.
(Drop me a DM with "AInstein" and I'll share the Notion link)
What if I struggle with a lack of ideas or vision?
That's a whole different can of worms.
AI can't help with that.
(I can tho')
Cuz it's void of creativity, not generative in the truest sense of the word.
(thank the lord)
The good news?
Creativity is the art of connecting the dots.
(which seemingly appear disconnected)
Fusing 2 different ideas into an entirely new idea.
For example:
Take my weird obsession with the occult and a long-standing love of philosophy applied to building a purpose-driven business.
The more surprising the combination...
...the more unique or 'creative' it feels.
But there's only one problem:
(1 more problem if you're keeping track)
You need imagination to do this.
You're in luck!
There's this place called the imaginal realm.
In fact it's many a famous creator's hidden (occult) secret.
Make no mistake.
This is a very real place.
Not in a material sense, of course.
But real nonetheless.
For over a year now, I've guided creators and entrepreneurs into the imaginal...
Helping them unlock a wellspring of creativity.
On-demand creativity...
Creativity on tap...
Whenever and wherever they choose to.
